DAVID GROPMAN (Production Designer) reteams with Robert Benton with whom he worked with on "Nobody's Fool." Gropman has turned his talents towards film after having distinguished himself with his stage designs for the Mark Taper Forum, the Paul Taylor dance company as well as several major Broadway productions.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Gropman studied at San Francisco State and at the Yale School of Drama. In 1977 he moved to New York City where he designed such shows as "Mass Appeal," "Open Admissions," "Lena Horne-The Lady and Her Music" and "Come Back to the Five and Dime, Jimmy Dean." His production design for "Come Back," became his first motion picture credit.
Recent film credits include "Marvin's Room" (for producer Scott Rudin) and "One Fine Day." His other films include "Mr. and Mrs. Bridge," "Slaves of New York," "Once Around," "Quick Change," "The Cutting Edge," "Of Mice and Men" and Scott Rudin's "Searching for Bobby Fisher."
Gropman also designed the world premiere production of Leonard Bernstein's opera "A Quiet Place," which was seen at the Houston Grand Opera, La Scala and the Kennedy Center.
